New research released by the American Wind Energy Association shows how adoption of wind energy is more than just hot air.

According to the report for the first quarter of 2015, the U.S. installed 68 brand new wind turbines, adding an additional 131 megawatts to the total national capacity of more than 66,000. Additionally, more than 13,000 megawatts worth of infrastructure is amid construction.

Wind energy has seen unprecedented nationwide popularity over the last 15 years. Since 2001, the capacity for this renewable energy alone has grown by nearly 16 times. However, first quarter wind adoption rates have slowed since 2008 when the Association began gathering the data.
