A U.S. appellate court will postpone a major decision regarding the future of the Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Power Plan until mid-to-late December.

As opponents attempt to stay the published rule, the U.S. Court of Appeals in the Washington D.C. Circuit announced it will wait to hear on the matter until after the United Nations meets in Paris later this month for a conference on climate change negotiations.

The Clean Power Plan hopes to accomplish significant environmental improvements through a number of regulatory enhancements, including carbon-cutting benchmarks for energy generators. Since climate change plays such a crucial factor in the plan's most contentious aspects, it's easy to see why appellate judges want to hear all sides of the argument before weighing in.
