Report: Energy storage experienced a jolt in 2015 [Video]

Renewable resources like solar and wind are poised to give ratepayers everywhere the opportunity to power their homes with clean, affordable energy - that is, if experts figure out what to do when the sun stops shining and the wind stops blowing.

Though still in its infancy, energy storage technology has the potential to provide a solution to the issue of intermittence. Storage device proliferation saw a huge increase in 2015 and will likely continue its rise in the coming years.

According to a recent report from GTM Research and the Energy Storage Association, the U.S. installed more than sixty megawatts of energy storage capacity in the third quarter of 2015 alone, more than third quarter estimates from the last two years combined.
